About me

I joined the University of Westminster in September 2013. I hold a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Leeds (ESRC-funded) and have taught in the Universities of Leeds and Manchester, the latter as a lecturer in International Political Economy.

I am chair of the Editorial Working Group of the Review of African Political Economy. I am also a founding member of the International Initiative for Promoting Political Economy's Africa working group.

Publications include a new book, Migration Beyond Capitalism (Polity 2021), and Migrants, Borders and Global Capitalism: West African labour mobility and EU borders (Routledge 2013). I have also published articles and chapters on the global remittances agenda, migration and labour mobility in West and Southern Africa, and the CFA franc under neoliberal monetary policy (forthcoming).

Teaching

I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, with particular recognition for- commitment to widening participation in higher education, support of students in their academic journey, and providing the environment for students to tackle challenging questions in the curriculum.

I am the course leader of MA Global Development.

Research

My research interests include: international labour regimes, migration and remittances;  the state and the social relations of production; monetary policy and democracy in West Africa with a labour focus.
