About me

I began my academic career after working in the travel industry for several years. As a practitioner, I worked for tour operators and travel agencies in Spain and the UK, in a variety of roles that included marketing, planning tours and contracting suppliers, and on the frontline in a customer service role.

My academic qualifications include a degree in history and politics, a post-graduate diploma in Tourism Management, an MSc in Tourism. I'm also qualified to teach English as a second language to adults, and have a post-graduate certificate in higher education.

I started teaching in 1990, initially for an American university, where I was involved in running and delivering their tourism and hospitality programmes in London. I joined the University of Westminster in 1999.

Teaching

I teach on the undergraduate Tourism courses, supervise third year dissertations and am a personal tutor.

I lead two second year modules - Tourism Marketing, and Tourism Destinations, and also teach on a number of first and third year tourism modules. I organise and lead the fieldtrip for our second year students, and am involved in developing links between our tourism students and the industry.
