About me

Kerry is best known for her installations and sculptures that infuse toy-like imagery with sinister and bathetic undertones. Her figures seem superficially contained but give off turbulent atmospheres of loneliness and dread through precise expressions that recall the work of Alex Katz.

As part of 'Let's Get Married Today' at Grizedale Kerry staged ‘Mull of Kintyre’, a performance involving a gigantic crow conducting a ritual mating dance to the song Mull of Kintyre, performed by Roger Orwin.

Stewart’s horny crow remains one of the best performances I’ve ever seen: critical, confrontational, hilarious, but also humane and empathetic. Nobody questioned whether or not it was art, or what it meant. It needed no theorization. It was exactly the right thing at exactly the right time.      Jonathan Griffin,  Frieze 200 edition, 2019  https://frieze.com/tags/kerry-stewart
